No metal insert clay poker chips

When choosing a poker chip set, the first step is to choose a poker chip design. But before you can even choose a design you must have some idea as to what material you are looking for. Most poker chips made for the home market are injection die molded around a metal core. This allows for chips that have a nice weight to them and are extremely durable. ABS composite poker chips with metal inserts are arguably the most durable poker chips on the market. The drawback to these chips, however, is that because the ABS material is so hard, while it resists scratches and scuffs well, it makes the chips relatively slippery when compared to quality clay poker chips. This is a disadvantage because the more slippery poker chips are, the harder it is to stack them and move them in stacks without them falling over. Clay poker chips, because they are made of much softer material, tend to stack much better. Clay chips with metal inserts tend to be very soft, and therefore stack nicely, but scratch and scuff very easily, making them far less durable. Also, because of the softer material, clay poker chips tend to have more manufacturing variances on a chip to chip basis, meaning the molds do not look quite as good as composite chips.

No metal insert poker chips

Poker chips with no metal insert provide the best of both worlds and then some. Because they are clay poker chips, they stack very well. But because they have no metal insert they are made of a harder clay blend than most clay chips, so they don't scratch and scuff as easily. This also means that the molds tend to look nicer, more like composite chips. Lastly, because they have no metal insert, they have the most authentic weighting and balancing when compared to real casino poker chips. The only disadvantage to no metal insert clay chips is that they cannot be hot stamped.

If you choose to purchase no metal insert clay poker chips, we also recommend that you purchase a poker table or poker table top to round out the authentic casino feel. Adding a poker table top to your dining table can make all the difference in the world in making your home feel like a real Las Vegas casino when you play poker with your friends.
